Lev Glukhivskiy
First Deputy Director, Examination Affairs

Born on October 28, 1942 in Novorossiyskoye village of Aktubinsk region in a repressed family forcibly displaced from Lviv region (1940-1946).

Education

Studied at a secondary school in Drohobych district, Lviv region. In the year 1964 Lev Glukhivskiy graduated with honours from Lviv Polytechnic Institute in the specialty "Electrical Machinery" and obtained the qualification of an engineer-electrician. During the years 1967-1970 studied at the internal post-graduate course of Lviv Polytechnic Institute.

Academic Ranks and Academic Degrees

In the year 1970 Mr. Glukhivskiy defended his Ph. D. thesis "Calculation of Steady States and Characteristics of Salient-Pole Synchronous Machines".

In the year 1988 he defended his doctoral thesis "Differential Harmonic Period and its Utilization in Analyzing Periodic Processes in Electric Machines", in the year 1991 was conferred the rank of professor.

Working activity

Lev Glukhivsky began his working life in the year 1965 as an engineer. After finishing the post-graduate course until 1994 worked in the department of electric machines of Lviv Polytechnic Institute as a junior member of teaching staff, senior teacher, associate professor, professor, head of department. In the year 1994 was elected a people’s deputy of Ukraine in Zolochivsk electoral district (Lviv region).

In the year 1998 he was for the second time elected a people’s deputy of Ukraine in a multi-seat electoral district according to the "Narodny Rukh Ukrainy" party ticket.

In the period of 1994-2002 was a member of the Committee on Science and Education Matters of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine; since 1998 – head of the Sub-Committee on Innovative Activities and Intellectual Property Protection Matters of the Committee on Science and Education Matters.

From July 2002 to September 2005 acted as the First Deputy Director of the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Industrial Property Institute" (Ukrpatent).

In September 2005 Mr. Glukhivsky was for the third time elected a people’s deputy of Ukraine in a multi-seat electoral district according to the ticket of the block of political parties "Nasha Ukraina" and till May 2006 was a member of the Committee on Science and Education Matters of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Head of the Sub-Committee on Innovative Activities and Intellectual Property Protection Matters.

Since July 2006 he again took up the duties as the First Deputy Director of Ukrpatent.

Public Work

Mr. Glukhivskiy is a member of "Narodny Rukh Ukrainy" political party and a member of the Central Management of this party. He is also a member of the academic council on the matters of theses defense D 35.052.02 attached to the National University "Lvivska Polytechnica".

Awards

Lev Glukhivskiy possesses an honorary title of an Honoured Worker of Science and Engineering of Ukraine (1997).

Awarded with the Diploma of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for special merits before the people (2002).

Scientific Activities

Mr. Glukhivsky continuously involves himself in scientific activities. He has published three monographs and more than 130 articles in the field of electromechanics. He is the author of over 20 articles on innovative activities and intellectual property protection as well as of the collection of articles "A Property of Intellect".

Took part in the creation of more than 10 bills of Ukraine.

Marital Status

Lev Glukhivskiy is married, has a son.
