On October 27-29 the visit of official representative of Elsevier, Joannis Telioridis, to Ukrpatent took place. Elsevier is world-famous publishing house and owner of Beilstein and Gmelin databases, where data in Organic, Inorganic and Organometallic Chemistry are collected for more than two centuries. These databases contain high-quality and detailed indexed information for searching by chemical structures, substructures and chemical reactions, experimental properties of substances, data in Pharmacy and Ecology as well as references to full-text literature patent and nonpatent sources. |

Total amount of the registered documents of title made up 242670 as of 01.11.2008: 89387 patents for inventions, including registered inventor’s certificates and 20-year after short ones; 36632 patents for utility models; 17693 patents for industrial designs; 98942 certificates for trademarks and service marks, including divisional applications; 11 integrated circuit topographies; 3 registrations of qualified indication of origin of goods; 2 certificates for the right of use the registered qualified indication of origin. |

In October, 2008 State Department of Intellectual Property received 401 applications for inventions, 683 applications for utility models, 2561 applications for trademarks and service marks under national procedure, 821 - under the Madrid Agreement. Total amount of the registered documents in October, 2008 made up 2848 documents of title. |

PIB is a patent documentation search file for official use intended for determining the state of the art during substantive examination of patent applications. PIB was established in accordance with Decree of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine No. 3769 “On the Entry into Force of the Law of Ukraine “On the Protection of Rights to Inventions and Utility Models” of December 23, 1993 and put into operation on July 1, 1997. PIB contains national patent documentation and foreign patent-information products (in general on modern electronic media – CD-ROM & DVD-ROM) coming from the Patent Offices of the leading countries as well as international intellectual property organizations (EPO, WIPO). The documentation available here includes an extensive back file collection. The PIB’s CD-ROM & DVD-ROM collection as of November 1, 2008 contains almost 12350 discs. |

As from November 1, 2008 access to the database "Marks for Goods and Services Registered in Ukraine" is free of charge.
Grounds: Ordinance of the State Department of Intellectual Property from May 19, 2008 No. 44 to the instruction of the First Vice Prime Minister No. 23093/1/1-08 from April 26, 2008 under the decision of the Science and Education Committee of the Verkhovna Rada dated April 16, 2008 (Protocol No. 14). |
